Benedictine Campus Activities Board (CAB) debuted their new event BC Games April 8 with plenty of excitement and surprise.

Students packed Haverty circle between 6:15-6:30 p.m., anticipating the competition.
Gabe Schmitz, a member of CAB, explained that they intentionally kept everyone in the dark when it came to describing the rules and what the games would look like.
Schmitz described the campus layout and explained the scoring system to determine the one winner.
“There are 32 unique games spread all around campus,” Schmitz said. “Each of them is worth 1000 points.” Students had one hour to score as many points as they could.
Schmitz emphasized that there were 32 operators at every game. “Whatever they say goes. They can disqualify you, whatever.”

The games fell in one of four categories: luck, strategy, strength, and brain. Some of the games included flipping water bottles, shooting soccer goals, running a timed lap in the rec, answering Benedictine trivia, among countless others.

The games took place all over campus from Ferrell Academic Center to the Benedictine sign, up to Benedetto’s, inside the Murphy Rec Center and beyond.

Sam Gutierrez won a thousand dollars as the first winner of the inaugural Benedictine Games.
Congratulations Sam and good luck to next year’s winner!
