Holy Grounds has been a staple of college life for years, acting as a study spot and a coffee shop for many on campus.
After this semester, it will be moving from its current location in the Haverty building, to the new library that will be finished this year.
Long-time employees shared many positive comments about working there and discussed what the future of Holy Grounds might look like.
Alexander Kai, a senior who has been working at Holy Grounds for two years, when asked how he felt about the location change, notes “It’s not just about the location.”
“It’s about the people who work there, and it’s your job as a barista to create the culture in Holy Grounds. The location does play an important factor, but the people are just equally as important,” Kai continued.
Gabe Schmitty, a senior who has worked for Holy Grounds for a couple of years, as well as managed it this year, also echoed a similar thought and talked about maintaining the barista culture after the location changes.
Other people talked about the community aspect of the coffee shop. Jackson Runge, a senior two-year employee said, “A lot of people are there for the community, and not for the drinks necessarily”
Employees are looking forward to the future of Holy Grounds too. Schmitty divulged some details about the new location and its larger size.
He said that “It’s going to be much bigger, but it will be maintained by the same amount of baristas.”
“In every meeting we’ve had, it starts with the barista culture, and if we can keep what we are, we can keep the new location the same,” he finished.
The future of Holy Grounds looks hopeful, and it will be interesting to experience the new location.
