Music swirled through the Murphy Recreation Center on April 12 as the Raven Swing Club opened its annual Spring Masquerade.
Officers began decorating the gym hours before the 7 p.m. start time, transforming the basketball court into a glowing ballroom.

Formal dress code was advised and masks were provided at the entrance. Rows of string lights replaced the usual fluorescent glare, casting a warm glow over tables lined with cookies, grapes and water.
“It was really fun to try and figure out who everyone was with the masks on,” said freshman Maggie Schnerre. “Even though we didn’t dance with them because they were really difficult to breathe in, it was fun to wear them.”
Laughter filled the room as partners swapped places on the floor. Waltz and swing music controlled most of the playlist, with line dances like “Footloose” sprinkled throughout to keep the energy high. There were around 50 attendees.
“It was a blast and I had a lot of fun,” said sophomore Isaac White. “There was good music and it was a lot of fun hanging out with friends.”

By 10 p.m., the music slowed, the crowd began to thin and masks slipped off, laying on the tables beneath the soft glow of the neon lights.
