On November 24, Benedictine College had the honor of hosting Matt Fradd, who is the founder of the famous Pints with Aquinas podcast and Catholic speaker.
Fradd spoke about his conversion to Catholicism as a cynical agnostic until an opportunity arose to go to Rome for World Youth Day where he had a graceful encounter with Christ and his life profoundly changed.
He exclaimed, “I have, over the years, fallen more deeply in love with this Person of Jesus Christ.”
A crucial point of Fradd’s talk acknowledged the all-too-human search for interior peace from our burdens and the cares of our life. Our Lord Himself recognized this in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all who are burdened and I will give you rest,” offering Himself as the solution.
This is a great reminder that only Jesus can give ourselves and those around us the peace that we search for.
Some practical ways that Fradd provides us for seeking refuge in Jesus are reading Scripture more, stop justifying one’s sins, finding small Christian communities that one can live in relationship with, and recover leisure time from the work state of mind, among others.
