Every year, Benedictine College puts on the Discovery Day Symposium, allowing students to present projects that they have been working on over the last year.
The college cancels all classes for this day, allowing as many students to attend as possible.
Many students attend the symposium, both as presenters and just to view the presentations.
This year’s Discovery Day, on Apr. 15, had a high turnout, featuring 48 oral presentations and 54 poster presentations.
Numerous additional students attended to support their friends hard work over the last year.
Topics included engineering projects, theology presentations, psychological research and numerous other subjects.
Joe Green, a senior theology major, presented a talk about the Anglican Ordinariate.
Sharing his experience, he said, “I definitely learned a lot. I love Discovery Day. Just being able to present and then go and see several of my other friends giving different presentations on different topics.”
Green also notes “It would be nice to see a broader representation of topics, like more theology or philosophy.”
Discovery Day shows what students are capable of, and allows them to explore their curiosity.
