Benedictine Ravens were polled to discover their favorite Thanksgiving foods.
Thanksgiving, a classic American holiday, has a unique cuisine that excites people every year.
While Thanksgiving originally consisted of deer, wildfowl and seafood, it has evolved to our classic cuisine that we know of today.
Turkey, especially, started becoming popular at the turn of the 19th century as many farms grew them making them almost always available for slaughter.
The common foods people find are turkey, ham, stuffing, potatoes, green bean casserole, dinner rolls and cranberry sauce.
The common desserts people share are different pies such as apple, pumpkin or pecan.
From the traditional turkey to the array of fall desserts, it can be hard at times to know which food is best.
Three Ravens were asked to share their favorite Thanksgiving food.
Junior Ariel Hartshorn said her favorite Thanksgiving food is green bean casserole because “it complements the other foods.”
Sophomore Audrey Bolan said her favorite Thanksgiving food is stuffing. “I’m not a big Thanksgiving person. I just get a little bit of turkey and some stuffing and call it a day.”
Some people, however, find dessert to be the best part of Thanksgiving.
Junior Rosa Zia said her favorite Thanksgiving food is pumpkin pie, particularly the Zia pumpkin pie recipe. This is because her family has a secret ingredient that makes their pie special.
Whether you prefer the savory foods or the classic desserts, Thanksgiving is a holiday that will satisfy one’s appetite.
