I hear you BC students, we’re hitting the midpoint of the semester. Homework and tests are intensifying and with that, your stress levels. All you want is somewhere to go where you can relax and eat some good, hot food. I’m here for you.
Willie’s Sports Pub is located on the corner of 7th St. and Commercial St. It is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
Starting with the appetizers, the fried pickles, though they may scorch the top of your mouth are a must. With a kick added my the jalapeno ranch, a nice crunch from the pickle, and the batter to balance the acidity and the heat, this is a great start to your meal.
As far as appetizers go, the menu provides a variety of options, from wings to sandwiches, to wraps, to burgers and chicken. As a Wyoming boy at heart, I love my beef and I have very high expectations for burgers. Overall I was pretty impressed with the burgers I have gotten from Willies. My go-to is the Western Burger. It is flavored well, and the barbeque sauce adding a nice tang. The burger was a little overcooked for my liking but was still juicy and well-seasoned. Overall I was very pleased with it.
The atmosphere is also a big draw of the restaurant. Very clean and welcoming, and it is a great place to come with friends or family when they visit. The two times my dad has come out since I started college I took him to Willies.
One slight drawback, in my opinion, is the TVs. I know it is a sports bar and when there is a big game is a popular watch party spot, but for just a nice dinner or lunch with your friends on a weekday, all the screens can be distracting and a bit much.
Overall I would give the atmosphere an 8/10 and the food a strong 9/10. So Willie’s as a whole experience I think gets an 8.5/10, good food, and a place where you and your friends can get away from campus for a break.
