The Benedictine College Center for Family Life presents their upcoming annual Theology of the Body retreat.
The retreat will take place Feb. 15th in the McAllister Board Room and will feature this year’s guest speaker, Rev. José Noriega, who is a worldclass expert on Theology of the Body and the family. He will give several talks throughout the day based on this year’s theme of love and our fulfillment.
The Theology of the Body retreat is open to all students. Sofia Leiva, assistant director of extension programs which includes the Center for Family Life, said, “We invite all students to attend, whether they’re single or dating, because these are not only important truths for those in relationships, but it’s important for individuals to understand who they are, where we come from, what our bodies mean, and what our bodies were made for.”
Leiva continued, “I hope that the students come out renewed and refreshed by the wisdom that Fr. José Noriega will impart. It will give participants both practical skills to aid them in their day-to-day lives and insights into the higher, theological truths. In a sense, it’s a beautiful mix of both the practical and the ethereal.”
Alicia Alvarez is a junior at Benedictine and is planning on attending the retreat. While her initial interest in the retreat came from her background as a theology major, she said, “specifically with Theology of the Body I find that it’s a good, more practical sense of how I can apply theology to my life, especially during this time around Valentine’s Day.” She hopes to better her relationships through the skills she learns in the retreat.
