Earlier this year, I had the pleasure to interview NASCAR on FOX Pre Race Show host Chris Myers. He has been one of the main people for FOX Sports’ NASCAR coverage since 2001 when they first started broadcasting NASCAR.
There was a lot of weight on the shoulders of FOX Sports since they started the year. We lost Dale Earnhardt Sr. at Daytona. Even though it was tough for many people in NASCAR, FOX Sports started off great and brought many innovations to the NASCAR broadcast on TV that have never been done before.
They helped bring innovations such as a full race leaderboard ticker that moves while the race is going as well as the trademark segment called Crank It Up where the broadcast commentary lets the driver and car audio experience do the talking.
Chris Myers brought a lot of great things to FOX Sports’s NASCAR coverage like his great interview skills and willingness to learn more about the sport from the experts who knew it best. This allowed Chris to gain knowledge of the sport to help improve how he covered the sport.
Chris has done the pre-race show with a lot of great people over the years like Jeff Hammond, Darrel Waltrip, Larry McReynolds, Jeff Gordon, and Clint Bowyer. Next season will be Chris Myers’ 24th year covering NASCAR as well as Fox Sports’ 24th year.
When I spoke to Chris about the upcoming season, he said, “I look forward to working on pre-race in upcoming seasons with Kevin Harvick joining Clint Bowyer as analyst.”
FOX Sports will also be part of the new NASCAR TV deal in 2025 broadcasting the first 14 races of the season. This new TV deal in 2025 will also keep the Daytona 500 on Fox for the next seven years.
I’m very excited to see how Chris Myers, and the NASCAR on FOX team cover the sport into the future.
