Benedictine College recently announced the Summer Program in Spain is back, after a brief time of it being closed due to COVID.
The summer program is open to students who have completed the language requirement for Spanish, and courses abroad count towards general education and Spanish major/minor requirements.
Packed with opportunities like classes at a Spanish University and the Camino pilgrimage, if interested this is not an opportunity worth missing. Applications are now open and the deadline is March 1.
In addition to that program, we have the long standing tradition of the Study Abroad opportunities in Florence, Italy.
This program is headed up by Dr. Daniel Musso, and includes both semesters and a summer program as well.
“By participating in the program students live an unforgettable experience in Italy, while earning college credits for a very affordable price,” Musso said.
“All students are eligible to apply”, Musso said. He clarifies “Currently, only vaccinated students have access to essential things like taking public transportation or eating at a restaurant”.
Musso hopes that with the current trend of European countries scaling back restrictions due to the Omicron variant infection subsiding, that the Study Abroad program can continue on the path back to normal.
Junior Maggie Schoening went to Florence with the school last spring, “Florence was an amazing, eye opening experience into a new culture,” Schoening said.
“When you are immersed in a new culture, your perspective completely changes. My favorite part was really experiencing the slowness of Italian culture compared to the jam packed style that Americans are used to,” Schoening said.
