Holy Grounds is taking on a new hourly schedule. Starting this semester, the beloved coffee shop will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., as well as their normal evening hours from 9-11:30 p.m.
The change came into effect on Jan. 15, 2020 and was a collaboration between the Food Service Director Adam Baker and Holy Grounds manager Alex Rodriguez.
Rodriguez, senior, said that this is something that he has always pushed for since becoming manager and hopes that both the students and staff will benefit from the longer hours.
“You get to encounter someone over a cup of coffee which is something so minute and so really nothing at the end of the day, but we play such an essential role in someone’s day which is caffeine. That sounds cheesy but we are providing coffee to someone and we get to ask them about their day,” Rodriguez said.
Kate Pettyjohn, sophomore, has been working at Holy Grounds since Fall 2019 and agrees that change in hours helps students slow down and not feel the rush to get their coffee before it closes.
She enjoys the fact that there are more opportunities to connect with the people who come in.
