The Ravens face off against rival Baker University in a Heart conference matchup. The Ravens are desperate need of a win as they have lost five in a row against some tough competition.
Last weekend, Benedictine fell to William Penn 84-58. This game was much closer than the score indicated. The Ravens were neck and neck with the Statesmen until they went on a run just past the 10 minute mark of the second half. The Statesmen were able to capitalize on the 17 turnovers by the Ravens. Turnovers have been a major worry for Benedictine this season, they are averaging 15 turnovers a game.
Sophomore Tyson Cathy has proved himself as the starting forward this season and is looking strong in his role. Cathy led the team with 14 points and 9 rebounds. He will be a pivotal part for the Ravens as they try to stop Baker and their big men.
The Opponent
Wildcats are coached by Sean Dooley. He has been at the helm for Baker for the past 8 seasons and has amassed 77 career wins which makes him the third most winning coach in Baker history.
Dooley’s offense relies on the forward position. Freshman Kobe Buffalomeat has had a great start to the season averaging 13 points per game. He will be trying to post up on the low block in every possession for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats will look for Buffalomeat to make a post move towards the basket or look to the many shooters that the Wildcats own. While Buffalomeat has the ball in the post, the Wildcats will be using multitude of down screens and off ball movement to confuse the defense. This con- fusion will lead to open three point shots. Junior Michael Brooks is a major threat from deep. He is averaging over 12 points per game with 57% from the 3 point line.
The Ravens will need to be alert on defense all night to combat against the off ball movement that the Wildcats will use. Cathy and sophomore Hunter Schneider are going to be under pressure from 6-foot-8-inch Buffalomeat all night. Cathy and Schneider’s agility with their defense will be necessary to create loose balls and turnovers for the Ravens.
