Benedictine will face off against the Pioneers this weekend. The Ravens are coming off of an outstanding victory against Central Methodist last week. This week, they are tasked against a team that is similar to the Eagles statistically. The Ravens will be looking towards junior third-string running back, Isaac McPherson, to lead Benedictine in the running game. Ravens starting running back, Marquis Stewart, is questionable this weekend after sustaining an injury against CMU. Charlie Nihart, the Ravens second string running back, is also questionable with an arm injury. McPherson will be needed to continue the strong rush game the Ravens have already es- tablished.
The Opponent
The Pioneers have a record of 5-3 with the three loses coming from ranked opponents. MNU is led by third-year head coach Todd Sturdy. Sturdy is 14-16 in his tenure with the Pioneers. This season, he has tied the most wins the team has won under Sturdy.
The Pioneers will need a big game from their star running back Jamar Moya. This dynamic back can also catch the ball out of the backfield. Sophomore quarterback Levi Taylor will be the one throwing it to the Pioneer receivers. Taylor has thrown for 8 touchdowns but has dealt with inaccuracy by throwing for 8 interceptions. The Pioneers defense is manned in the middle by linebacker Ryan Huerta. Huerta has the most tackles on the team. He is the main player that will need to be accounted for by the Ravens for them to have success in this game.
